In this month’s message, I ask for your continued support in the following:
Daily Student Attendance: If at all possible, please schedule family visits, trips, or vacations during the Department of Education’s scheduled breaks or observed holidays. It is crucial that your child attend school each and every day. On a related note, HSDB is working with the Department on the issue of bus transportation. We understand the need for students to arrive to school on time and are currently working to resolve the issue of late bus arrival to school.
School-Home Communication Envelopes: To improve communication with our families, HSDB is sending home, each Friday, weekly communication envelopes to all parents and legal guardians. Once you receive the envelope, please review the contents, sign (if applicable), and return the enclosed forms. You will also need to sign and date the designated portion on the cover of the envelope indicating that you have received the week’s updates. Please then have your child return the envelope to school on Monday morning.
Parent Participation in School Activities: We invite you to join us in the school activities happening at HSDB where you will get a chance to see your son or daughter’s creativity! Here are a few examples of what’s going on: HSDB will be hosting the 2nd annual Winter Festival on Saturday, December 6th from 11 am – 2 pm where you will get the chance to view our middle and upper school students perform dramatic art and dance pieces; HSDB Science Fair on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 12:15 pm - an opportunity for parents to view the science projects created by our middle and high school students! Winners will represent HSDB at the annual Honolulu District Science Fair Contest in the spring of 2015!; Deaf Santa, a Christmas celebration for our elementary students happening on the morning of December 11th at Pearl Ridge Center.
Again, thank you for your continued support and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends!
